RAINBOW COMPANY YOUTH THEATRE: DRAMA CLASSES

This nine-week drama class is designed for ages 4-6. It is held on Saturdays, 9-10 a.m., Sept. 21-Nov. 23. (no class Oct.12) Theatre games, sensory awareness exercises, character movement and dialogue are followed by dramatizing stories. Must be age 4 at time of enrollment. Fee: $63
Improv/Acting Skills for Youth
Class meets for nine weeks on Saturdays, 10-11 a.m., Sept. 21-Nov. 23. (no class Oct. 12) It is designed for ages 7-9. Improvising characters and scenes and creating action are the focus of this class. Fee: $63
Performance Skills for Youth
This class meets for 9 weeks on Saturday, 11:30 am-1:00 pm, Sept. 21-Nov. 23 (no class Oct. 12) It is designed for ages 10-12. Students create characters, scenes, and dialogue using an improvisational approach. Fee: $90
Teen Improv/Acting Skills
Class is designed for ages 13-17. It meets for nine weeks on Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m., Sept. 19-Nov. 21 (no class Oct. 3) Using theatre games, improvisation and acting exercises, students develop or improve performance skills. No experience required. Must be age 13 at time of enrollment. Fee: $90
Aug. 20-Sept.24 a series of three 45-minute sessions; the serious theatre student will work privately with an award-winning Rainbow Company instructor to prepare or polish an audition piece. Ages 12-18 only; by appointment only. No online enrollment is available; call 229-6553. Fee: $150
The following classes meet for 10 weeks on Tuesday evenings from Sept. 17-Nov. 26 (No class Oct. 1) Fee: $100
Students will learn the nuts and bolts of stage management. They will also prepare a complete prompt book. Minimal supplies are furnished by the student and consistent outside work is needed. Ages 12-18; Tuesdays, 5-6:20 p.m.
Acting with the Voice
Drawing on a variety of sources, such as play scripts, commercials, radio and game shows, and literature, students will work on vocal skills and technique in creating convincing and interesting characters. Ages 13-17; Tuesdays, 5-6:20 p.m.
Musical Theatre Dance
Students dance to Broadway melodies, focusing on character, style and attitude. Ideal for the beginning dancing, or non-dancing, actor. Ages 10-18; Tuesdays, 7:40-9 p.m.
Improvisation for Young People
Students will explore basic principles of improv technique including scene structure, theory, and tricks of the trade. They will also explore different forms of improv: comedy sports, and short and long form. Ages 13-17; Tuesdays, 7:40-9 p.m.
