Opening January 13, 1995 the West Las Vegas Arts Center houses a fully-equipped recording studio, two (2) piano rehearsal rooms, and art gallery, two (2) dance studios, a conference room and an arts and crafts studio. The center serves as a development training center for the visual and performing arts offering over 132 classes each year for children and adults. Classes include ballet, tap, swing class, hip-hop, gospel workshop, master/lecture demonstrations in the visual arts and the African Cultural Arts and African Dance for Children, African drum, recording studio production, private piano lessons, children’s choir, poetry workshop, yoga, creative writing, doll making, silk painting. The center provides ongoing experience through the its Performing Ensemble which includes the African and Steel Drum Ensemble, the performance dance theatre ensemble, the theatre arts ensemble, and the afternoon swing and jazz band ensemble; the Community Youth Theatre Ensemble and Workshop, the Reader’s Group, the Poet’s Corner, Cultural Focus, Rites of Passage for both young men and women, and Community Roots Programs.
